The graph attempts to depict the trends in investments made in Life insurances, Bank Deposits, Provident fund, Shares and Debentures. We see that since 1990-91, every type of investment has picked up pace with insurance funds taking the lead. The shocks of the 2008-09 global financial crisis and events such as Black Monday in 2011 get well reflected here. The recent upsurge since 2016 because of demonetization of our economy can clearly be seen especially more in case of bank deposits and Life insurance funds.
